Highlights : Leh – Lamayuru – Aryan Valley – Alchi – Lekir- Nubra – Pangong – Hanle – Tso Moriri

 

Day 1: Arrive Leh

Arrive at Leh airport, received by our representative and transfer to Hotel. Complete rest for the first half. After lunch if suitable visit Leh Palace built by King Singgee Namgyal around the beginning of 17th century A.D. This deserted nine-storied Palace is now taken under by ASI (Archaeological Survey on India) for restoration. Visit Leh Castle – Namgyal Tsemo built by King Tashi Namgyal after the victory over Hor (Central Asian Invaders), visit Shanti Stupa (a Japanese Pagoda built for world peace by Indian based Japanese monks and was inaugurated by His Holiness Dalai Lama in 1985). Dinner and overnight at Hotel in Leh.

Day 2: Rafting on the Indus and overnight at Alchi

Morning around 8:30 am, drive down 10 kms to Phay village , where the Rafting team will brief the members on safety gears, and the Rafting level etc. and then enjoy a thrilling 2/3 hrs of white water Rafting on Indus River upto Nimoo village enroute you will raft down through the great confluence of Indus & Zanskar Rivers with views of beautiful landscape and countryside villages. Hot Lunch at the finishing camp, and transfer to Alchi village approx 35 kms / 1 hr. Arr Alchi and visit the 1000 year old unique Buddhist murals of Alchi Choskor monastery, dating back to 11th Century. Later check-in at the Hotel for overnight stay.

Day 3: Alchi to  Dha-Hanu

After an early breakfast at 7:00 am, drive approx. 100 kms,  3/4 hrs,  further west along Leh- Kargil highway to into the interiors of Sham & Drokpa regions.  From Khalatse police check-post, we leave the kargil highway and drive along the Indus river to Beima village whose inhabitants are supposedly one of the last descendents of pure Aryan race. Arrive at the Camp Hotel by afternoon. Thereafter explore the Beima and Dha villages which are two of the main Drokpa villages. The Drokpa people follow a mixture of Animism and Buddhism and dress in colorful costumes, with flower decorated headgears. Walk and explore the villages. Overnight Tented Hotel.

Day 4: Beima – Lamayuru – Leh

Retrace your drive back to Leh approx 190 kms / 6-8 hrs. Enroute to Leh, visit the famous Lamayuru Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries of Ladakh, where the first monastery complex built during 11th century is attributed to the famous Tibetan Translator Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo, later visit the striking Basgo fort which enshrines the precious gilded copper statue of Maitreya Buddha 1-1/2 storeys high which was erected by King Sing-ge Namgyal (c 1590-1640). Basgo served as the capital of Ladakh during parts of 15-16th century. Arrive Leh by evening and check-in at the hotel.

Day 5: Leh – Nubra Valley

After early breakfast drive to Nubra valley via Khardongla Pass (18,380ft) the world’s highest motor able road and gateway to Siachen Glacier, the views from the top of the pass are amazing. Visit Deskit Monastery (118kms) founded by Lama Sherab Zangpo in 1420 A.D. Post lunch visit Hundar village (7kms from Deskit) and Double-Humped Bactrian Camel Safari in sand dunes between Hundar and Deskit villages. Dinner and overnight at camp in Nubra.

Day 6: Nubra Valley – Panamik Hot Springs

After early breakfast drive to Panamik village, on the way visit Samtangling Monastery, visit hot springs in Panamik and Yarab lake near to Summer Village.

Day 7. Nubra valley – Pangong lake

After taking breakfast drive to Pangong lake via Shyok river… enjoy the beautiful scenery of the lake. Dinner and overnight in a camp at Pangong lake.

Day 8. Pangong Lake – Hanle

After breakfast proceed to Hanle via Tsagala. On the way More Plains, visit villages like Nyoma, Loma Band. Visit observatory. Overnight stay in Hanle.

Day 9: Hanle – Tso Moriri

After breakfast proceed to Tso Moriri. Afternoon leisure time to explore the village and lake surroundings.  overnight stay in two Moriri

Day 10: Tso Moriri to Leh via Tsokar and Tanglang la. dinner and night stay in Leh.

Day11: Leh – Shey – Thiksy – Hemis

After breakfast full day monastery tour. Evening free for the shopping. Dinner and night stay in Leh.

Day 12: Departure

After breakfast drop at the airport. Fly back to your hometown with sweet memories of Ladakh.
