Spiti Valley Trip – Desert Himalaya Trip

Short Itinerary:

  • Day 1: Manali – Atal Tunnel – Batal – Kunzum La – Losar – Kaza (190 Kms / Approx. 8-9 hrs)
  • Day 2: Kaza – Langza – Hikkim – Komic – Kaza
  • Day 3: Kaza – Dhankhar – Pin Valley – Tabo
  • Day 4: Tabo – Kye – Kibber – Chicham – Chandratal
  • Day 5: Chandratal – Atal Tunnel – Manali

Stay Details:

  • 2 Nights: Kaza – Hotel Snow Lion or similar
  • 1 Night: Tabo – Hotel Mentok Dumra or similar
  • 1 Night: Chandratal – Camp with attached washroom

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Manali – Atal Tunnel – Kaza (190 Kms / Approx. 8-9 Hrs)

In the morning, depart to Kaza from Manali. Visit on the way: Atal Tunnel, Chhatru, Batal (Lunch at Batal Chacha-Chachi Dhaba), Kunzum La, and Losar village. Arrive and check-in to hotel/home stay in Kaza.

  • Sightseeing:
    • Atal Tunnel (8.5 kms long tunnel)
    • Koksar (Tea/Coffee, Breakfast)
    • Chhatru (Tea/Coffee, Maggie)
    • Chacha-Chachi Dhaba (Lunch Break)
    • Kunzum La (4551 mtrs pass)
    • Losar (1st Village of Spiti Valley)

 

Day 2: Kaza Sightseeing

Morning at leisure. In the afternoon, visit local sightseeing spots: Langza, Hikkim, and Komic Village. Take lunch in the Tibetan kitchen at Komic village, which is the highest motorable village in Asia.

  • Sightseeing:
    • Langza Village (Beautiful Village)
    • Buddha Statue (Situated in Langza Village)
    • Fossil Park (Walk around the cliff and find Fossils)
    • Komic Monastery (Highest Motorable Village in the world)

 

Day 3: Kaza – Dhankhar – Tabo via Pin Valley

Travel to Pin Valley & Tabo. Visit Tabo Monastery, renowned for its murals and stucco images, often called “The Ajanta of the Himalayas”. Optional hike from Dhankhar Village to Dhankhar Lake (2 hrs round trip). Visit Dhankhar Fort. Late afternoon return to Pin Valley. Overnight at Tabo.

  • Sightseeing:
    • Tabo Monastery (Chos-khor Monastery & Ajanta of Himalayas)
    • Tabo Caves
    • Dhankhar Monastery & Lake
    • Dhankhar Fort (Tibetan Monastery)
    • Dhankhar Lake Hike (2 Hrs Hike)
    • Mud (Last village of Pin Valley)

 

Day 4: Tabo – Chandertal

Drive from Tabo. Afternoon visits to Kye Monastery, Kibber Village, and Chicham village. Return to Chandratal in the evening and stay. Optional parikrama of Chandratal Lake (approx. 45 minutes).

  • Sightseeing:
    • Kye Monastery (One of the largest monasteries in Spiti Region)
    • Kibber Village (Famous for Wildlife)
    • Chicham Bridge (Highest bridge in Asia)
    • Losar Village
    • Kunzum La Pass

 

Day 5: Chandratal – Manali

After breakfast, check-out from the campsite & drive to Manali. Reach Manali in the afternoon. Tour End.

What the Tour Does Not Include:

  • Air fare / Rail fare / Bus fare
  • Personal expenses (Laundry, Shopping, Telephone bills, tips, etc.)
  • Any extra services (Permits, Volvo luggage charges, heater, meals, etc.)
  • Any kind of drinks (alcoholic, mineral, and starters)
  • Hike in tax, fuel cost, hotel tariff, taxi tariff, etc.
  • Monastery entrance fees, camera fees, and monument guide services
  • Anything not specifically mentioned under “Cost Inclusion”
  • Extra nights in hotel due to ill health, flight cancellation or any other reason
  • Services of the vehicle on leisure days & after finishing the sightseeing tour as per the itinerary
  • Extensions of the tour programme or diversions in the tour itinerary due to bad weather, road closure, breakdown, or any natural calamities

Terms & Conditions:

  • 50% advance to be deposited at the time of booking confirmation
  • Balance 50% one week before the tour starts
  • Check-in/Check-out time at all properties is 11/12 hrs (Noon)
  • All the above rates are per person rates on a double sharing basis
  • Children pay on the basis of sharing a room with their parents
  • Journey can be arranged from Delhi airport/railway station at nominal extra charges
  • The above rates are applicable for resident Indian citizens only
  • Stay at luxury hotels as per the guest request

Cancellation Policy:

  • 10% before 30 days from date of arrival
  • 25% before 15 days from date of arrival
  • 50% within 7 days from date of arrival
  • 100% within 48 hours from date of arrival

What to Carry:

A Trans-Himalayan road trip can be an exciting adventure, but it’s essential to be well-prepared to ensure a safe and comfortable journey. Here’s a list of items and essentials to carry for your trip:

Clothing:

  • Layered clothing for varying weather conditions (including thermals, fleece, and waterproof jackets)
  • Warm clothing, even if traveling during the summer, as high altitudes can get cold
  • Comfortable and sturdy shoes for walking or trekking
  • Sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect against high-altitude sun exposure
  • Gloves and a beanie for colder nights

Food and Water:

  • Sufficient food and snacks for your journey, as remote areas may have limited access to restaurants or stores
  • At least 2 liters of water at any time

Health and Safety:

  • Basic medical kit with essential medicines and first-aid supplies
  • Personal prescription medications
  • High-altitude sickness prevention medications (consult a healthcare professional)
  • Face masks and hand sanitiser (for travel during pandemic times)
  • Travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and road trips

Miscellaneous:

  • Cash in local currency for remote areas with limited banking services
  • Camera and binoculars for capturing the stunning landscapes
  • Power banks and chargers for electronic devices
  • Ziplock bags for organizing and storing small items

Terms & Conditions of Himachal / Spiti Valley & Ladakh Trip:

  • The traveller should carry their photo IDs along with them
  • The traveller should take care of cleanliness so the places remain clean
  • Food will be on a buffet basis; extra food items will be at the customer’s end
  • The traveller should be mentally tough to beat the extreme cold conditions
  • No plastic water bottles and other plastic stuff should be carried during the tour
  • The traveller should carry their water bottle & must dispose of their garbage in dustbins only
  • We are not responsible for any mishaps due to weather conditions, natural disasters, accidents, etc.
  • We provide sanitized transportation, follow Covid norms, and provide hygienic stays
  • Please ensure to bring sanitizers and masks along
  • Charges and trip plans could vary during bad weather conditions or if the tour is extended due to weather or other mishaps
  • We are not responsible if the tour is extended or the itinerary is changed due to road blockages, landslides, snowfall, water floods, vehicle breakdowns, etc.
  • “Availability at hotels” and “rates for this itinerary” are subject to change at the time of booking
  • We reserve the right to change the hotels, sightseeing spots, or the route at any time, only in case of maintenance work, availability issues, network issues, natural calamities, or medical emergencies
  • Air Conditioner in-cab will not be used in hilly/mountain areas
